Decalogue. General good practices for carrying out all underwater activities
1st The Diver Guide of the dive will assess the weather conditions and the state of the sea before the dive and will not force its completion if the conditions are not entirely adequate.
2nd Practice regularly the basic exercises of security and mastery of the team with your partner in a maximum of three meters, before the dive. Practice your buoyancy control in low impact spaces.
3rd Be careful with your flapping and contacts with the environment. Do not hit, move or lift fauna or substrate, in case it happens leave it as it was. If you cannot avoid it and hit the bottom, don’t flap to regain buoyancy, use your vest to balance yourself.
4th Do not harm living beings, which includes disturbing, retaining, collecting, fragmenting, splitting, killing, and any other form of harmful action for any purpose. Do not capture or extract plants, marine organisms, or their remains (shells, shells, etc.) or archaeological remains.
5th Extreme care in caves, caves, interior of sunken ships or indoors, whether real or virtual, avoid them if you are not trained.
6th Do not feed the marine fauna.
7º Avoid and actively fight against environmental contamination.
8th Respect other users of the sea.
9th Only use anchor buoys.
10th Look for environmental quality, choose small groups and uncrowded places.
Decalogue of responsible recreational diving in the marine reserve of Isla de Tabarca.
1st Document and find out about the characteristics of the marine reserve you visit. Do not use light bulbs in caves, caves, the interior of sunken ships or indoors, where flora and fauna could be affected.
2nd Pay special attention to the presentation (briefing) of the Guide Diver. The diver can and should require the Guide Diver to apply in the presentation of the presentation (briefing) and to remain attentive during the TEST at all times, to certify it, also during the dive apply and enforce the diving criteria responsible recreational.
3rd During the dive, control and group your equipment for safety and to avoid damage by impact or drag.
4th If you find fishing gear, don’t go near it. For your safety and respect for the work of artisanal fishermen.
5th If you come across scientific material, never approach or manipulate it. They are carrying out scientific works for the conservation and improvement of our seas.
6th If you see garbage, inform the person responsible for the dive, the diving centre or the Surveillance Service of the marine reserve. They will tell you how to act.
7th As a general rule, do not act on any unknown object. If you interpret it to be harmful or illegal, please inform the person responsible for the dive, the diving centre or the Surveillance Service of the marine reserve.
8th It is necessary to take special care not to hit corals, gorgonians or sponges with fins or diving equipment. The latter are filter organisms extremely sensitive to sediment deposition.
9th As the person responsible for the dive, the Guide Diver must inform the Marine Reserve Surveillance Service of any condition / damage that has been caused voluntarily or involuntarily by any of the members of his group. It will also inform of those alterations attributable to other diving groups (large accumulations of bubbles in the ceilings of caves or cornices, broken coral branches, etc.
10th The Guide Diver and the centre staff must maintain an exemplary attitude in and out of the water. He will maintain visual contact with all the members of the group at all times and will supervise their “responsible behaviour”.
The diving test required for responsible recreational diving in the Isla de Tabarca marine reserve.
With the clear intention of setting an example, all diving sectors have participated and developed a quality standard in marine reserves of fishing interest. Divers in a marine reserve must be more than ever respectful observers. In order to have a correct behaviour in the water, a basic test aimed at minimizing our impact will be carried out before the dive. This test is made up of exercises that we all should have done in any of the basic courses of the certifying schools. This test will always be carried out according to the following methodology.
Exercises to perform
1st Checking the pressure. On the surface, check the tank pressure by visually checking while breathing that the pressure gauge needle does not move (check for a bottle that is open and filters not clogged).
2nd Emptying of glasses and buoyancy. In neutral buoyancy, be able to empty the glasses. Make the OK sign.
3rd Take off the glasses and buoyancy. In neutral buoyancy, being able to take off the goggles make the OK sign and put them on by draining the water from inside. Repeat the Ok sign.
4th Remove the regulator from the mouth and buoyancy. In neutral buoyancy, being able to remove the regulator from the mouth holding it by hand and without releasing it, make the OK signal and put the regulator back on. Repeat the OK signal.
5th Test of second stage of emergency and buoyancy. In neutral buoyancy, be able to remove the regulator (first stage) from the mouth holding it by hand and, without releasing it, replace it with the emergency regulator (2nd second stage), signal OK and put the regulator back on. Repeat the OK signal.
6th Share air and buoyancy. In neutral buoyancy, being able to share air with octopus or alternative system with another partner. Make the OK sign. This exercise can be done while navigating while maintaining a height of three meters.
