Swimming pool and separate children’s pool surrounded by lovely gardens. Children’s play area with swings and slides, tennis/netball/badminton court.
Sports equipment is supplied on request. Secure private underground garage if required.
Coast/Beach
10 minutes walk to large golden sandy natural beach, the blue flag Carabassi beach is surrounded by sand dunes, beach bars and other amenities. The beach stretches from Arenales de Sol to Santa Pola and is bordered with rolling dunes. You can enjoy a leisurely walk or cycle from Gran Alacant along the coast to Santa Pola.
Travel
Alicante Airport is a 10 minutes drive, Murcia 45 mins and Benidorm 45 mins. Gran Alacant is served by a good local bus service, taxi’s and a local ‘road train’. Car hire is not essential as the local area boasts most amenities. Prebooked car hire from UK is substantially cheaper. Taxi from Alicante Airport is approx 20 euros. If you dive with us, we provide a free pick up service.
Distances
The sea side town of Arenales de Sol is 15 minutes walk with promenade, restaurants etc. The fishing town of Santa Pola is 15 minutes drive with many tourist amenities, castle, restaurants and bars. Alicante with its many large shops is 20 minutes drive. The ancient town of Elche with its Palm forest is 20 minutes. Benidorm is 45 minutes drive with large Theme Park, Nature Park, large Water Park and Dolphinarium.
Things To Do
Information on all upcoming fiestas and events is available from us at Dive Academy or by visiting ‘Jose’ at the tourist information centre in Santa Pola (near to bus stop on the roundabout). Jose speaks excellent English and well informed about local events. The library in Gran Alacant can also help. Local magazines such as The Jungle Drums and Gran Alacant Advertiser are free and can be picked up in many restaurants, bars and, of course, at Dive Academy.
The nearby town of Elche has an historic centre with a famous large park noted for its palm trees.
Five miles away, Alicante has a 16th century castle, Castillo Santa Barbara, designer shopping and excellent restaurants. There are many colourful fiestas throughout the year.
Santa Pola has a thriving fishing port, long sandy beaches/promenade and a popular Saturday market with a vast array of goods for bargain hunters. The town has lively bars and excellent fish restaurants.
The island of Tabarca is well worth a visit. A very popular family day out is a snorkelling trip to the marine reserve around the island. Dive Academy provides all transport, equipment and a guide who takes you to the probably the best snorkelling sites on the Costa Blanca. The children love it! After snorkelling, you can enjoy lunch in many of the restaurants or relax on the beautiful beach.
Water sports include sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, jet skiing, water skiing, banana boat are all available around the area.
Other sports include horse riding, rock climbing, go-karting, mountaineering, cycling (available from Dive Academy), paragliding, paraponting, skiing (only 4 hours away), quad-biking, paint balling.
Club de Golf Alenda, Club de Golf de Bonalba, Alicante Golf, and Campo de Gold El Plantio are all situated in the Alicante area. Alenda Golf course is 12km west and open all year round, 18 holes, 2 putting greens and 20 bay driving range.
The large nature reserve near the apartment has walking trails and is a great way to spend a day.
Nearby, the stunning mountain ranges provide excellent opportunities for walking, rockclimbing or simply relaxing and enjoying the views. The beautiful waterfalls and rock pools are suitable for swimming.
Fishing is available in numerous reservoirs for black bass carp, and barbel. Places on deep sea charters are available and tuna fishing is excellent in season. |
