Andy Docherty

Andrew Doherty (Eng)

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

Andrew Doherty (we are not sure how to pronounce his surname) is an Open Water Scuba Instructor and isn’t he cute? He started diving over 20 years ago back when he was a BSAC diver. He crossed over to PADI last year when he did his Instructor Development Course to become a PADI Instructor to work here in Spain. He is full of enthusiasm and loves to teach his passion. If you buy him a beer he will guarantee you pass your course. His hidden talent: He can say the words yellow jelly in every single language…. test him on it?!

Gary Fleet (Eng)

Gary is one of the owners of dive academy and is a speciality instructor. It all started one rainy day in Liverpool when he had a bad day. That day was so bad he decided to do something fun and get away from the office. What better out door activity to choose than diving? So he started his training and four years later here he is running his own centre and trying to be as good a diver as his brother Wayne.

Wayne Fleet (Eng/Spa)

Wayne is one of the owners at Dive Academy and is better than Gary. After working in Insurance and recruitment back in sunny England Wayne decided to change his office desk for a scuba tank. He moved out to Fuerteventura and became an instructor. Within 2 years of starting to dive he now owns the place. Well, if you see him round the dive centre you would see that he thinks he ‘owns the place’. He is great though you will just love him.

Matthew Dexter (Eng/Spa)

PADI MSDT Instructor

Matt first came into diving during his degree in Marine Biology and after moving to Spain became a PADI Professional. He speaks excellent Spanish and is also a qualified school teacher. Some say that if you look into his eyes long enough, you turn into a tree and can only be turned back again if you answer a silly question.

Derrick Foskett (Eng)

PADI Assistant Instructor

Derrick came into diving late in life after learning in The Bahamas. He passed his Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and EFR First Aid Instructor course in his 60’s and has a wealth of diving experience. He loves going up to the Caverns and will be the first to put the kettle on in the morning!!

Elisa Marco Ibanez (Spa/Eng)

PADI Divemaster

Former policewoman and local lass. Elisa completed her PADI Divemaster in the Summer of 2012.

Jake Garland (Spa/Eng)

PADI Assistant Instructor

Local lad Jake grew up around the Mediterranean and always has a smile on his face when immersed in our clear blue waters either scuba diving or leading our fantastic snorkel safaris. When he opens his mouth though, you will realise he is a true Welshman. Take a look at trip advisor as we think he gets the most reviews.

Dave Holland (Eng)

PADI IDC Staff Instructor

Dave is a true diving enthusiast. Since falling in love with diving in sunny Spain he has dived in England, Scotland, Egypt and Malta. Dave particularly enjoys teaching Professional courses and is also a qualified Equipment Service Technician. On top of this he is an ex-squaddie so stand to attention and do as he says ha ha!!!

Damon Rose

Damon Rose (Eng/Spa)

PADI Master Instructor Damon has been a dive professional for over 15 years and has logged over 3000 dives. He has worked in Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and more. As well as his PADI qualifications Damon is a BSAC Instructor and a HSE Commercial Diver. He used to be the propriator of the center and still works here but now he makes the tea!!

Richard Cavender (Eng/Spa)

PADI Assistant Instructor

Richard learned to dive 20 years ago in the UK, he could never get used to the cold water and gave it up, he started again when he moved to Spain 7 years ago and has continued his studies and is now a qualified Assistant Instructor. He remains a “fair weather diver” however given the 300+ days of sun we get here on the Costa Blanca that means that he gets to dive quite a lot! He also fixes our computers and hates it when I call and say.. RICHARD HELP!!!
